Special Event - One Night Only!!

Mimi Robinson - How Can A Body Withstand This?

Saturday, June 20, 2026 - 7:00 PM EDT

Join writer and performer Mimi Harlow Robinson for a special work-in-progress sharing of How Can a Body Withstand This?, a new solo theatre piece exploring grief, abortion, and the stories imposed on women's bodies.

When her best friend's medical crisis becomes a national abortion headline in America, one woman retraces the days that led there, determined to reclaim the person at the centre of the story.

Set in Tennessee in the immediate aftermath of Roe v. Wade, How Can a Body Withstand This? explores friendship, memory, healthcare, and what it means to love a place while questioning the forces that shape it. Years later, now living in London, she finds herself confronting how easily political upheaval and human suffering can feel distant when viewed from afar. Moving between Tennessee and London, the piece asks audiences to close that distance and consider abortion not as an abstract debate, but as a deeply human experience.

This event will feature a 20-minute excerpt from the developing work, followed by a conversation and audience Q&A with Robinson about the project's development, themes, and ongoing creative process. Guests are also invited to stay afterwards to gather and and connect with the artist and fellow attendees.

Originally developed through a commission at London's MishMash Festival in 2026, How Can a Body Withstand This? has since been selected for the 2026 Bitesize Festival at Riverside Studios and awarded an Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant.

Written and performed by Mimi Harlow Robinson.
